I've been trying to find out if Kerry actually ever said either of these lines:
"If You Don't Believe Saddam Hussein Is A Threat With Nuclear Weapons, Then You Shouldn't Vote For Me."
or
"If you do not think that Saddam Hussein with his weapons program poses a grave threat to the United States, you should not vote for me"
I've found a lot of Right Wing websites link to it as being from this source:
Ronald Brownstein, "On Iraq, Kerry Appears Either Torn Or Shrewd," Los Angeles Times, 1/31/03"
But for the life of me, I can't find this source archived.
I know in January, 2004 Kerry said:
""If you think I would have gone to war the way George Bush did, don't vote for me." -- John Kerry, Jan 2004"
Now, the first quotes the Right Wingers are using doesn't sound like anything Kerry would say. In fact, I remember Kerry not even mentioning WMD or nuclear weapons at that period- avoiding the topic completely.
Can anyone help me out here with proving or debunking this quote?
